Track-out

We have had a great three week break. I think the kids were rested again and ready to be back in school.

This weekend they helped me put stain on the porch. It was great because one would play and help with Emma and then two would stain. They would take their break from staining to be on Emma duty. It was great. They helped me for 5 hours this way (including lunch). The porch looks great and they are all quite proud of their work.

Rhett is determined to enter a lego contest. They are supposed to write a 200 word essay. He and Megan did this together. I guess I am going to have to get on the ball and get his picture developed so he can enter.

We thought this picture was so funny because it looks like it is just Rhett's head sitting on the table.

Eli Football

This is a clip of Eli getting a great sack on Saturday. He is the one running up through the middle. He is number 7, if you can see that much.
The second one might be better to see because we are zoomed in more. Eli is the one dancing around on the far left side on defense. I wish you could see this in HD. Totally awesome!

Ready for some football...

We are eating, breathing, living football right now. Well, maybe not that bad but the first two weeks of practice, I thought I would pull my hair out over the whole schedule. Now it seems to be at a medium roar.

So since this is our life for a couple of months, I thought I would share a few pictures. Megs is being so patient to go to the games and help with Emma. She has been good to find a coloring book or something to do while we drag her to the games. I think I am going to enroll her into some sort of dance this winter. Then maybe the boys will have their paybacks with a recital or two here and there!

Isn't Megan a doll! I looked at her this week and could envision her as this stunning young lady. I was wishing that I had snapped a picture of her that morning. She was just stunning!

Eli is doing flag football and is getting along good with it. He started out very hesitant to hold off the other boys. Redge has been giving him pointers. Eli had his first game on Saturday and 'sacked' (pulled his flag) the QB. They won 3-1. I think he ran in one of those points.

This picture is after one of their practice games. Eli was a little pooped from the heat. I am hoping things will cool off here so we don't end up with heat stroke. We had a primary activity on Saturday that was outside with a few games. I had to help with an outside game. I think I had heat stroke from being out there for an hour and a half. Part of the time I was on the parking lot and then the rest on the grass. Whew! It was hot! All I could think of when I got done was the boys and how hot they are in their football gear.

I took this great picture on Friday. Isn't it the best!! I seriously started crying when I looked at it on the camera. First of all, isn't Rhett the most handsome boy ever! And look how big he is, can't you just see this grown up hunk that the girls are going to fawn over! Doesn't he just look like a stud in that football gear.

Then you look at little Emma sitting there looking up at him like he is her hero. She thinks Rhett is pretty cool. He treats her like gold! AWWHHH!! They are growing up. *sniff* *sniff*

Summer

I have decided it is crazy to have school in the summer and then have all the other activities that go on during the summer months. We put it all on ourselves, of course!
Megan and Eli are my swimmers this year for swim team. We didn't attend much because of the conflict with scouts and activity days but when we could go it was fun.

Emma was funny one day when I put her down for her nap. She just wasn't that tired and so she played instead!

Today the kids came running into tell me that a butterfly landed on Rhett. These are a few pictures of them playing with the poor thing. It had a torn wing. They wanted to bring it in and doctor it. I just didn't think it would live. They are compassionate!

It is also a fun symbol for the Bodily family to see a butterfly. Grandma Alice loves butterflys! We were thrilled to think this one would spend so much time tolerating our kids handling it.

Gum

Yuck! Emma swallowed a whole pack of gum. At least 10 pieces! She has about gotten into the gum several times but this week (Tuesday) she found Rhett's scripture bag that had a pack of gum in it. All I found was a pile of wrappers and her smelly breath. I think it has passed - she had diarrhea yesterday and her bum has been really sore. Should I be worried? Anyone had this happen?

Megan

Megan is 10 years old! I can't believe that she is in the double digits now!! How time flies. It was just yesterday that I brought her home from the hospital to our little rental in Rupert. ohhhh

She wanted breakfast in bed and so she got it!! She was very patient with me and let us celebrate her big day later. I guess she gets a long drawn out birthday this year.

This is the outfit she got. She is such a doll.

I let her take a camera to school to take pictures of her classmates. She had a ball. She has the best personality to include everyone around her.

I just can't believe she is 10!

phone pictures

Redge took these with his phone.
The kids made a HUGE fort in the bonus room. They turned the chairs to make rooms and had every one of our blankets out. The fort took up 2/3rds of the room. Then they switched from building with blankets to building with the blocks. This was Rhett's block creation.

Emma's favorite thing to do is to put her baby in the high chair with her to eat breakfast. This morning she had two babies in with her, which was a tight fit. Megan started squealing to Emma 'stop'. I looked over at her trying to feed her baby bites of pancake! The baby she was feeding happened to be Megan's doll that Emma is now claiming as her own. But Megan is trying to keep some sort of claim, thus the squealing. Good thing they have plastic heads... syrup cleans up fine!

Reminisce

This week we were having breakfast and talking about our trip Charlotte with my parents. Totally had a fun time with them. Our favorite still is going around Charlotte Motor Speedway in a large passenger van. The tour guide only got going 65 or something but then he stopped on the turn - AHH! It was a 24 degree angle (I think) and that was enough for me - felt like the van was going to tip over.
I was having fun making the kids poise on these great fish in a park and we got in trouble for getting on the fish! WHOOPS!

Cute Emma on the bench at the 'fish' park and

then in the car as we were getting to Charlotte. She is a poop in the car. By the time we got there we all had enough of her crying!

We wore grandpa out... it was too funny to see all the kids sacked out on his lap. They thought it was great that he would climb into the back of the van with them. I had to put a stop on that because it is too hard to climb into the back for me - let alone dad!

We had fun riding the tram in Charlotte- we got to see people from all walks of life. I think it was a wide-eyed experience for the kids (and me). My kids think it is funny to sing some song about 'pants on the ground' I had to shuush them because they wanted to sing this and we were surrounded by this type of fashion!

Marathon

The kids were quite proud of themselves running the marathon at the school. They had to prepare by running or walking 25 miles and then they finish the last 1.2 miles at the school. It was scheduled for a day that really would have worked but it was a little chilly and had been raining so they postponed it. Arg! It was a lot hotter on the rescheduled day. They all had red faces!
This first picture is Eli running with some older kids. They stuck together the whole time and Eli thought they were pretty cool. The next is Rhett coming into the finish line just by the Durham Bull mascot. He was the first one in of my kids and was amongst the first group of kids that ran in. I never could get a picture of Megan running. She was past me when I spotted her both rounds!

Mr. Eli was so excited to see Emma after the race. All the kids flocked around her from his class. She was a little overwhelmed with all the attention. She is starting to tell the kids no when they get in her face.

They thought they were pretty cool to get a medal. I finally got them to throw away their numbers just this last week.

You can see how red their faces are in these pictures. Rhett's picture was taken about an hour afterwards, too.

If I had a better stroller I would have run with them but my stroller just isn't meant for an off road experience.
Oh the fun things we do!

Sweet

Redge is great. Usually I discourage him from getting me flowers because they just die. Well, I decided that it would be kind of fun to get flowers because he just doesn't do that (because of me!). So after having a conversation about getting flowers and that it would be kind of fun to get them every once in a while... he bought some for me for Valentines. I thought it was great that he found these at the grocery store. (yes, I am a bit cheap - especially on things that are going to just die!) But, they bloomed so pretty and lasted for almost 10 days. I had 10 days of remembering that my sweetheart thought of me.

So last week Redge comes home all beaming about a secret that he is going to tell me after the kids are in bed. In lieu of Mothers Day, he has booked a couples massage at a prestigious hotel here. I was a bit shocked!! First of all he thought way ahead for Mother's Day. Second, this is NOT something he would do (it was a bit spendy)! And most of all~ I am a bit scared to go! I haven't ever had a professional massage... And what is a couples massage? Nothing kinky, right? Well, I am sure we are in for an experience! This may be a one time experience. HAHA!!

Redge loves me! (It is kind of nice to know that you are still in love, huh!)

Oh Emma

The 'pre' twos have started...

I was touching up a few spots of paint in a room the other day and Emma decided to dip a tool in and try a taste of paint. This was done all in the time it took me to dip my brush, turn around fix my area and then turn back to her noises. She was sputtering, trying to get that paint out of her mouth, holding the tool in her hand. I screamed help to the kids and ran her to the bathroom to wash her mouth out. She was upset by this time and inhaled some of the water/paint that I was rapidly washing out of her mouth. Meanwhile I was yelling at the kids to clean up her shirt, clean up the floor where the paint dripped, and asking for one to grab her a drink. AH!! After calling poison control, we were relieved that she just had to drink water or juice. whew!

So then we go downstairs to eat lunch and get our paint taster some juice - trying to encourage lots of drinking. After eating lunch Emma fills her pants, so I scoop her up to change her. I notice something on her lip. hmmm what? no it can't be.... ugh, after opening up the lovely diaper, I discover a streak mark of poop up her back and a blob on the edge of her diaper. YUCK!! It was poop! I have no idea if she actually got any of it in her mouth... but she tried!

I guess she must have tough stomach for all that ingesting!

Her next favorite thing to do is to lock herself in a room. She loves to push the button on the door... So today she locks herself in the bathroom and unrolls all the tp off the roll. I was just grateful she didn't lift the toilet lid and start playing in there.

This is what she did the other day...

She could have made a bigger mess with all the stuff I have under that sink but she picked the q-tips.

During FHE the other night she came out of my bedroom, strutting her stuff. Needless to say, we had to stop to giggle at her antics. She was quite proud of herself.

As Emma just said, 'dat [m]ee'

Rhett

Rhett is the best big brother to all his siblings. He really dotes on Ms. Emma. He has such a tender heart that I have to be very careful about what I say.

On Sunday I told him he was handsome and then I asked if he knew that, he said he did. I hope to create confidence in my children! And he is getting more confident in himself.

We asked him if the kids tease him at school for any reason. He said they tease him because he won't watch rated R movies and that he can't play on Sunday.

We are scoffed at some of the things we do as adults so hopefully he will let these things roll off him. I don't know that teasing will ever go away, only his attitude will make the difference.

Rhett loves legos and now is into bionicles. He really never got into action figures so it is interesting to see that bionicles are cool to him.

Rhett is now a boy scout. It was pretty cool to watch him get his arrow of light and see this milestone accomplished! He will be twelve before we know it!! He will be a deacon and will be able to go to mutual. ARG!

Maybe it is because he is my oldest but everything he does it seems to mark more time on myself. I am excited to see the great accomplishments of my kids but I would like to shove them in a box and not let them out. hmmm I guess I am more committed to writing these things down and recording our moments. Time is marching on...

Can you see what I have to put up with... he thought it was a kick to be a goof ball in all the birthday pictures! I do love Mr. Rhett!
